Extraplanetary Quest - Spaceship Concepts

In our project game Extraplanetary Quest players encounter enemies in space who mount sea animals with WWII weaponry to fight them.The player character is human though, which means he is also limited to his race's possibilities. As a consequence he can only use a more or less ordinary spaceship.
In the game that spaceship is displayed to represent the player's position on the map. This weekend I sat down and thought about possible spaceship designs. As the ship will be shown in a top down perspective its silhouette had to be strong from that perspective. Here is what I got so far:

The silhouette will be extended by a few weapons but that's generally it. It is ok in my opinion. I also already noticed I put too much detail in the engines. The spaceship will be rather small on screen so that in the picture is definitely overdone.
Another concern is the coherence with our setting; As mentioned above we have basically WWII technology mounted on sea animals in space. But as I also said the player is the only item in the game that is different from that. The problem is now to create something coherent with both the base idea and the style of the game. Those topics are to be discussed with the art team tomorrow. For now I think this will suffice as a solution. I will keep you posted about the future of our spaceship.
